Surname: Query:

THOMAS

Looking for information on my paternal grandfather WILLIAM ODELL THOMAS b. Jan 6 1904 d. May 26 1982. He had a brother AARON THOMAS. I have not been able to find out where my grandfather was born, or either of his parents' names. WILLIAM ODELL THOMAS (aka W.O. Thomas and Odell Thomas) married MARY MOZELLE ELLIS on August 17, 1923. Their children were all born in Montgomery County but they lived in Attala County. Odell's and Mozelle's children's names are WAYNE, RAY, COY, ROY, and MAYBELLINE. Unfortunantly, I do not know when the family moved to Attala county. "Family talk" has it that W.O. and Aaron's father left the family when the boys were small and at some point in time their mother died in Whitfield. No one in my family seems to remember Odell and Aaron's father's name. I have been told that their mother (my great-grandmother) is buried in Thomastown in Leake County. I have requested a copy of WO Thomas' SS application hoping that I can get his parents' names. If anyone has any information to share, I would appreciate it.

Surname: Query:

 MATTHEWS, OLDHAM

A family diary indicates that my MATTHEWS and OLDHAM ancestors might be buried in Scotland Cemetery in or near Winona.  This might include Isaac MATTHEWS and his wife Ann Rice (OLDHAM) MATTHEWS plus assorted cousins. This crowd probably died in latter part of the 19th century.  Does anyone know where Scotland Cemetery might be/have been? Are transcripts available? Thank you.
